Appealing an IRS Tax Levy Action

Serving Taxpayers In Minnesota and Western Wisconsin

If you owe tax arrears to the IRS, the government has the right to proceed with a levy action on your salary, financial accounts and property.  Fortunately, the IRS does not take levy actions for asset seizure lightly and may provide delinquent taxpayers additional options for repayment.  If the IRS has issued you a notice of its intent to levy on your property using Letter L1058, or Notice LT11, or is threatening to terminate your installment payment agreement by sending you an IRS CP523 notice, it is critically  important to get a tax law professional on your side as soon as you receive the notice of an intended levy.

If You Have Received Letter L 1058, a Notice LT11, or a CP523 Notice Of Levy, You Have The Right To Hire A Lawyer For An Appeal

Like any decision governed by the United States Tax Courts, appealing a tax levy action is your right. There is a timeline you must follow for submitting your intent to appeal. Once the levy is in place, removing it through the appeals process is significantly more difficult.
